Solid performance in Assen amidst challenging conditions 🇳🇱
Assen, Netherlands - Jacob Roulstone faced a challenging weekend at the iconic Cathedral of Speed for the Dutch Grand Prix, but managed to secure points with a commendable performance.
Starting from 20th on the grid, the Australian rookie encountered a chaotic first lap, exiting in 21st position. Despite this, Roulstone demonstrated resilience and speed, posting his fastest lap of the race at 1:41.397 and moving up to 17th.
Throughout the race, Jacob consistently improved, breaking into the point-scoring positions by lap 3. Although he experienced a setback with a contact in Turn 2, which disrupted his rhythm and caused him to lose touch with the leading group, he maintained a solid pace. Roulstone finished the race in 14th position, earning valuable championship points.
Reflecting on the race, Jacob commented, "It was a challenging weekend for sure, but I am satisfied to end it in points. I felt a day behind because Friday was not great; we struggled to feel good on the bike. I had quite high expectations of myself to make it to Q2 yesterday, but we did not and I was quite disappointed. However, we worked a lot with my crew last night, found some good things for today. The start was a bit tricky, but quickly I got my head down into a good pace and gained a few positions. I had contact in Turn 2 with another rider and I lost contact with the group I was in, so I was at the front of the group, not feeling too confident with my pace, so I just focused on trying to stay at the front of that group. The pace was not competitive enough to catch back the other group, so I was just satisfied to come out first of this group at the end! Thanks to my team for their hard work this weekend!”
With this result, Roulstone and his team can take positive steps as they look ahead to the next round at Sachsenring.
